You can get a medical certificate in Fontvieille online for €34.99, with most cases decided the same day and issued as a PDF. A registered doctor reviews what you report and produces a dated record of that assessment for an employer, a club, a school, an insurer or a carrier. It is supporting documentation only — it is not Monaco's statutory carte-lettre d'arrêt de travail, and we submit nothing to the CCSS or CAMTI.

Medical Certificates in Fontvieille: Who Needs Them?
Fontvieille is the newest of Monaco's four traditional quarters, built on land reclaimed from the sea during the 1970s on the seaward side of the Rock. It exists because the Principality ran out of ground, and it houses the functions the older quarters could not accommodate: the Stade Louis II, the heliport, a shopping centre, a second port, and Monaco's light industrial and logistics activity. It is the most functional quarter in a place not otherwise known for functionality.
That gives Fontvieille two distinct populations of people needing certificates. The first is sporting. The Stade Louis II is Monaco's principal sports venue, and around it sit clubs, training facilities and organised activity from youth level upwards. Sports Fitness declarations at registration, at the start of a season and after injury are a regular requirement — though with the standing caveat that a national federation or a competitive league can mandate its own screening, sometimes including an ECG or an in-person examination, and where it does, that requirement governs.
The second is working. Light industrial units, logistics and warehousing, retail in the shopping centre, and heliport and port operations are all physical roles with defined demands, and returning to them after an absence is a question in itself. That is what the Return to Work type addresses, and it works best when you describe what the job actually involves rather than what it is called. Where a role is genuinely safety-critical, an honest remote assessment will sometimes conclude that occupational health needs to answer the question instead.
On the statutory side Monaco is precise and we should be too. Employees are covered through the Caisses Sociales, the CCSS administering the sickness scheme and CAMTI the self-employed one. The statutory sick-leave instrument is the carte-lettre d'arrêt de travail, prescribed within the Monegasque system, which the insured must send to the CCSS within 48 hours of prescription or daily benefit can be refused; the first three days of an initial arrêt are not indemnified. Our certificate is not that document, we cannot issue it, and we transmit nothing to either fund. And since around four in five people employed in the Principality live in France or Italy, the question of which system covers you turns on your employment and insurance — put it to your employer and the fund, not to a web page.
So the offer is simple and limited. A registered doctor reviews what you report and issues a dated PDF certificate recording that assessment — Sick Leave, Sports Fitness, General Fitness, Fit to Fly, Return to Work or General Medical, each at €34.99. It is supporting documentation for employers, clubs, schools, insurers and carriers. For urgent care, the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace, Monaco's only public hospital and in operation since 1902, is the correct destination.
The Stade Louis II and organised sport
Monaco's principal sports venue sits here, with clubs and training facilities around it generating regular demand for fitness declarations at registration and after injury.
Monaco's functional quarter
Reclaimed from the sea in the 1970s, Fontvieille holds light industry and logistics, the shopping centre, the heliport and a second port — the physical work the older quarters have no room for.
Return to Work is the live question
Warehousing, retail and port or heliport operations have defined physical demands. Describe the role honestly; where it is safety-critical, occupational health may need to answer instead.
The statutory route runs through the CCSS
The carte-lettre d'arrêt de travail must reach the CCSS within 48 hours, and the first three days of an initial arrêt are not indemnified. We issue neither that document nor anything that replaces it.
Six types, €34.99, usually same day
Sick Leave, Sports Fitness, General Fitness, Fit to Fly, Return to Work and General Medical all cost the same, and most business-hours cases are decided the same day.

Who Accepts a Medical Certificate in Fontvieille
Acceptance is always the recipient's decision. These are the settings where a dated registered-doctor assessment is normally what is being requested.
Clubs and training facilities
Sports Fitness certificates support registration, season sign-on and return after injury. Where a federation or competitive league prescribes its own medical screening, that protocol comes first.
Logistics, warehousing and light industry
Return to Work certificates are used where resuming physical duties is the question. Specific limitations are more useful to a supervisor than a general statement of fitness.
Retail employers in the shopping centre
A dated certificate from a registered doctor is the usual documentation for an absence from a standing retail shift, subject to the employer's own absence policy and deadlines.
Airlines and helicopter operators
Fit to Fly certificates are used where a carrier asks for medical clearance to travel. Requirements vary by operator, and some supply their own form.
Insurers and claim files
A dated assessment from a named registered doctor is commonly accepted as supporting evidence. The insurer decides the claim against its own policy terms.
Not regulated or occupational examinations
Diving medicals, aviation medicals, seafarer certification and formal occupational clearance are prescribed processes with approved examiners. We cannot substitute for any of them and will say so.
Monaco Pricing: All Certificate Types
| Certificate Type | Our Price | Typical Private Consultation |
|---|---|---|
| Sick Leave Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Sports Fitness Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
| General Fitness Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Fit to Fly Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Return to Work Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
| General Medical Certificate | €34.99 | €50-€120 |
Private consultation costs are a general range, reflecting generally higher costs typical of Monaco, and vary by clinic.
The gap between our pricing and a typical private consultation in Monaco generally reflects the difference between an online assessment and an in-person clinic visit. You're paying for the doctor's review and the certificate itself, not a waiting room or receptionist time. Given Monaco's generally higher cost of living, a same-day online route is often the more practical option for many people needing documentation quickly, regardless of price. This gap tends to be smaller for specialised certificate types, like sports fitness or fit-to-fly, where finding a private clinic willing to issue same-day paperwork can take longer than the assessment itself.
Monaco Legal Snapshot: What Applies in Fontvieille
Sick-leave and certificate rules are set nationally, so what follows applies in Fontvieille exactly as it does anywhere else in Monaco.
Yes — you can get a medical certificate (doctor's note) in Monaco online, reviewed by a registered doctor and usually issued the same day, from €34.99. In Monaco, work absence is generally documented through an arrêt de travail (work-stoppage certificate), a term and practice that closely follows the French administrative approach used in the principality. It's typically issued by a doctor and processed through CCSS, Monaco's social services compensation fund. For sport, gym, travel, or general purposes, a separate certificate type usually applies. In everyday English this is often just called a doctor's note for Monaco, even where the official local term differs.
| Local document name | Arrêt de travail: French for "work stoppage," the general term for a medical leave certificate |
|---|---|
| Who can issue it | Generally a licensed doctor |
| Administrative approach | Monaco's administrative and legal framework for this purpose generally closely follows French practice, given the principality's close ties with France |
| Processed through | Typically routed through CCSS (Caisse de Compensation des Services Sociaux), Monaco's social services compensation fund |
| Benefit coordination | Where a benefit claim applies, Monaco's system generally involves a daily allowance (broadly similar in concept to France's indemnités journalières) coordinated through CCSS, though eligibility and the exact amount depend on individual contribution history; confirm the specific figure with CCSS directly rather than assuming a fixed rate |
| Employer notification | Monaco employers, following practice similar to France, generally expect prompt notification of an absence; we are not able to confirm a single statutory deadline specific to Monaco from public English-language sources, so confirm your exact notice window with your employer or CCSS |
| Data protection | Monaco is not an EU member state, so EU GDPR does not apply directly; Monaco maintains its own data protection framework |
Note on how firmly these details are sourced: Monaco's employment and social security framework closely follows French administrative practice, but Monaco is a separate sovereign state with its own statutes and its own CCSS fund. French rules do not automatically apply, and Monaco publishes less standardized English-language guidance than France itself. Treat the rows above as general orientation rather than a legal reference, and confirm your specific situation with CCSS or a Monaco-based employer or HR contact before relying on them for a specific case.
Our Monaco Medical Team
Every Monaco certificate is reviewed by a doctor registered to assess cases in Monaco. We are not aware of a single centralised, English-language public register for doctors in Monaco in the way the UK's GMC provides, so rather than point you to a lookup we can't fully verify works the same way, we're direct about how the review works: a licensed doctor genuinely assesses your case, based on the information you provide and, where useful, follow-up questions, before deciding whether a certificate is appropriate.
A certificate is only issued after that genuine assessment. If a doctor decides a certificate is not clinically appropriate for your situation, for example because your case needs an in-person examination the online format cannot replace, we do not issue one, and you receive a full, automatic refund rather than being charged regardless. We do not operate on a pay-first, certificate-guaranteed basis for Monaco or anywhere else we operate.
Registered practitioners, not a call centre.
Every doctor is independently verified against their national medical council before they see a single patient - including for patients in Fontvieille.

It records a registered doctor's assessment of your fitness to take part in a described activity, based on what you report about your health and what you tell them about the demands involved. Describe the sport properly — intensity, duration, contact, competitive level — because that is what the assessment is made against. It is a declaration of assessed fitness, not a performance clearance or a guarantee against injury.
Many clubs accept a dated doctor's declaration for recreational and youth participation. Federations governing competitive sport frequently require their own protocol, which can include an ECG, a physical examination and a designated examiner — and where they do, our certificate does not satisfy it. Ask your club secretary what your category requires before you pay.
Return to Work. It addresses fitness to resume duties rather than certifying the absence. Be specific about the work: weights handled, repetition, machinery, shift length, whether you drive as part of the job. Fitness to return is job-dependent, and a certificate that names the real demands is the one a supervisor can act on.
A Fit to Fly certificate can support fitness for air travel generally, and helicopter operators do sometimes ask for a doctor's assessment for a passenger with a medical condition. But the operator sets the requirement and may have its own form or its own medical criteria, particularly around recent surgery, pregnancy or oxygen needs. Ask the operator first, then buy the assessment that matches.
No. It is a remote review: a registered doctor evaluates what you report and asks follow-up questions, with no examination, no ECG, no blood pressure reading and no blood tests. That is the honest limit of the format, and it is why some requirements — competitive sports screening, occupational clearance, regulated medicals — cannot be met this way and will be declined rather than fudged.
Usually not. What most recipients want is a dated assessment by an identifiable registered doctor with something they can verify, and our doctors are GMC-registered and named on the document. But an employer is entitled to require a doctor within the Monegasque system, and for anything touching the CCSS the statutory route requires exactly that. If your employer's policy specifies local, follow it.
No. All six types are €34.99 each in Monaco — Sick Leave, Sports Fitness, General Fitness, Fit to Fly, Return to Work and General Medical. The type determines what the doctor assesses and what the certificate states; it has no effect on the price, and there is no bundle or subscription.
No. Diving medical fitness is a specialised assessment with its own standards and, for many courses and all professional diving, a requirement for examination by a doctor trained in diving medicine. A remote review cannot assess the things that matter here — ears, lungs, cardiovascular response. Go to an approved diving medical examiner; a general certificate is not an acceptable substitute and we will not issue one as though it were.
A parent or guardian can submit on a minor's behalf, answering accurately about the child, and a Sports Fitness or General Fitness certificate is often what an activity programme asks for. Remote assessment of a child has genuine limits and a doctor may decline and direct you to a paediatrician or GP. Many programmes also accept a parental declaration, so ask before you pay.
Yes. There is no requirement to be in the Principality, which is just as well given that around four in five of the people who work here live across a border. Do bear in mind that the recipient's rules still apply: a French or Italian employer or insurer may require documentation that fits its own system, and being assessed remotely from abroad is something some absence policies address explicitly.
