A medical certificate in Eschen can be requested online for CHF 34.99, with most cases decided the same day and issued to you as a PDF. A registered doctor assesses what you report and produces a dated record of that assessment for an employer, a club, a school, an insurer or a carrier. It is supporting documentation only — wage continuation and Krankentaggeld in Liechtenstein are administered by your employer and your insurer under your contract and the law.

Medical Certificates in Eschen: Who Needs Them?
Eschen is the largest municipality in the Unterland, Liechtenstein's lower district, with a population of roughly 4,800, sitting on the Rhine plain rather than on the Oberland terraces. It is a genuine industrial location: thyssenkrupp Presta, the automotive steering-systems manufacturer, has its headquarters on Essanestrasse and is among the country's biggest single-site employers. Alongside it sits the mix of engineering, trades and service businesses typical of the lower valley.
Automotive manufacturing means shift patterns, and shift patterns change what a certificate has to say. An absence from a rotating shift is not the same administrative event as an absence from office hours — the notification window is often tighter, the cover arrangements are immediate, and the return is a scheduled slot rather than a gradual reappearance. That is why Return to Work assessments matter as much here as Sick Leave ones, and why describing your actual shift structure to the assessing doctor produces a more useful document than describing your job title.
Eschen and neighbouring Mauren also share Liechtenstein's most visible sporting institution at this level, USV Eschen/Mauren, with the Sportpark Eschen-Mauren as its home. Amateur and youth sport across the Unterland generates a steady requirement for fitness declarations at registration, at the start of a season and after injury — which is what the Sports Fitness type exists for, though a national federation can always specify its own protocol instead.
The Unterland's position makes cross-border employment the normal case rather than the exception. Liechtenstein employed 43,441 people at the end of 2024 and 24,943 of them commuted in — 57.4% — with industry showing the highest commuter concentration of any sector; Switzerland accounted for about three in five of those commuters and Austria for around a third. For an Eschen employer that means a personnel department dealing with several social-security systems at once. For you it means the question of who covers your absence has a real answer that depends on your employment and insurance, and that you should get it from your employer and insurer rather than from a colleague.
What we provide is a single, bounded thing. A registered doctor reviews what you report, asks follow-up questions where they matter, and issues a dated PDF certificate recording that assessment — any of the six types, each at CHF 34.99. We do not notify your employer, lodge anything with a Krankenkasse in Liechtenstein or an insurer abroad, and do not cause any statutory payment to begin. The document is yours to hand over, and the obligations around it remain yours to meet.
The Unterland's industrial anchor
thyssenkrupp Presta, the automotive steering-systems manufacturer, is headquartered on Essanestrasse in Eschen and ranks among Liechtenstein's largest single-site employers.
Shift work changes the paperwork
Rotating shifts mean tighter notification windows and a scheduled return rather than a gradual one, so Return to Work assessments carry as much weight here as Sick Leave ones.
USV Eschen/Mauren and Unterland sport
The club and the Sportpark Eschen-Mauren anchor local football, and amateur and youth sport generates regular demand for fitness declarations at registration and after injury.
A multi-system workforce
With 57.4% of national employment commuting in — most from Switzerland, around a third from Austria — an Eschen personnel department routinely deals with several social-security systems at once.
Same-day in most cases
Cases submitted during business hours are usually decided the same day, which is what makes the service useful against a shift-based notification deadline.

Who Accepts a Medical Certificate in Eschen
The decision is always the recipient's. These are the contexts where a dated assessment from a named registered doctor is normally the document being sought.
Manufacturing and shift employers
Written documentation for absence and for return is standard in Eschen's industrial workplaces. A certificate naming the doctor with a verification reference is the usual expectation — your own policy sets the deadline and the submission route.
Trades, engineering and service firms
Smaller Unterland employers generally accept a dated registered-doctor certificate as documentation. Where an employer has a written absence procedure, that procedure governs what and when.
Football and youth clubs
Sports Fitness certificates are used for club registration, season sign-on and return after injury across the Unterland. Where a federation prescribes its own medical, that requirement comes first.
Vocational schools and apprenticeships
A General Medical certificate supports absence from training or assessment. Providers apply their own regulations and deadlines to what they will accept.
Insurers considering a claim
A dated, named-doctor assessment is commonly accepted into a claim file as supporting evidence. Whether the claim succeeds is entirely the insurer's decision.
Not a filing with any social-security body
We transmit nothing to a Liechtenstein Krankenkasse, a Swiss insurer, the Austrian ÖGK or any authority. Statutory notification and any benefit application remain your responsibility.
Liechtenstein Pricing: All Certificate Types
| Certificate Type | Our Price | Typical Private Consultation |
|---|---|---|
| Sick Leave Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Sports Fitness Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
| General Fitness Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Fit to Fly Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
| Return to Work Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
| General Medical Certificate | CHF 34.99 | €50-€120 |
Typical private consultation costs are a general range reported for Liechtenstein and Switzerland's shared pricing scale, and vary by practice and location.
The gap between our pricing and a typical private consultation mostly reflects the difference between booking an in-person appointment slot and completing an online assessment: you're paying for the doctor's review and the certificate itself, not a waiting room or receptionist time.
Given Liechtenstein's small size and close ties to the Swiss healthcare market, private consultation costs here sit at the higher end of the ranges seen across the countries we serve. Our online pricing follows the same scale used across our CHF-priced markets, and remains below the typical in-person range for every certificate type we offer here.
Prices for every certificate type are shown upfront before you start the assessment, and you are only charged once a doctor has actually reviewed and approved your case, not at the point of submitting your answers. This matters given how few alternatives sit within Liechtenstein itself, where many residents are already used to weighing whether a routine matter is worth an in-person visit or better handled another way.
Liechtenstein Legal Snapshot: What Applies in Eschen
Sick-leave and certificate rules are set nationally, so what follows applies in Eschen exactly as it does anywhere else in Liechtenstein.
Yes — you can get a medical certificate (doctor's note) in Liechtenstein online, reviewed by a registered doctor and usually issued the same day, from CHF 34.99. For most illness-related absence in Liechtenstein, you generally need an Arztzeugnis, typically issued by a doctor to document your condition, with related sickness benefit administration generally handled via the AHV/IV social insurance office. For sport, gym, travel, or general purposes such as insurance applications, a separate certificate type generally applies: see the types below. In everyday English this is often just called a doctor's note for Liechtenstein, even where the official local term differs.
| Local document name | Arztzeugnis (German): the same term used in Switzerland, since Liechtenstein's medical and administrative conventions closely follow Swiss and German-language practice |
|---|---|
| General timing / requirement | Generally expected to document illness-related absence from work or other obligations, though exact notification windows depend on the employer or institution involved |
| Who can generally issue it | Typically a doctor practising in or accepted within Liechtenstein |
| Submission timing | Generally expected to be communicated to your employer as soon as reasonably practicable, following that employer's own sickness policy; exact windows can vary by employer and sector |
| Related administration | Sickness-related benefit administration is generally handled via Liechtenstein's AHV/IV office (old-age, survivors', and disability insurance) |
| Governing framework | General Liechtenstein social insurance and sickness-absence practice, administered via AHV/IV; specific entitlements depend on your employment situation and the applicable scheme |
| Data protection law | Liechtenstein's own Data Protection Act (Datenschutzgesetz), applying EEA-aligned standards; Liechtenstein is an EEA member, not an EU member state, so EU GDPR does not apply directly here |
Note on cross-border cases: Because Liechtenstein's medical and administrative practice closely follows Swiss convention, employers or institutions with cross-border ties may ask questions specific to which country's system applies. Liechtenstein and Switzerland remain separate national systems, so confirm which country's specific rules apply if your situation crosses the border, and check current AHV/IV guidance directly for benefit-related questions, as procedures are reviewed periodically.

Registered practitioners, not a call centre.
Every doctor is independently verified against their national medical council before they see a single patient - including for patients in Eschen.

Many do — a dated declaration from a registered doctor is the usual form when a club asks for medical clearance to play. But football and other sports are governed by federations that can mandate their own screening, sometimes including an ECG or an in-person examination, particularly for competitive age groups. Ask your club secretary what the federation requires for your category before you pay for anything.
Yes, and it is worth asking for. A doctor can record limitations relevant to shift work — for example that night work is not advisable for a defined period — where your account supports it. Describe the rota honestly: shift length, night frequency, physical demands. A certificate that engages with the actual pattern is far more useful to a production supervisor than a generic one.
The case starts with structured questions, but the decision is made by a registered doctor who reviews your answers and comes back with follow-up questions where the case needs them. It is not a form that issues its own certificate. The doctor is named on the document, and where remote information is insufficient they decline rather than guess.
The certificate records the assessment, its date and the period or fitness statement concerned, together with the assessing doctor. It is not addressed to a specific company and does not need to be — the same document works whether you hand it to a production supervisor, an HR system or an insurer. If your employer requires a document naming them specifically, ask them for their own form.
Payment is made online by card when you submit the case, at CHF 34.99 for any of the six certificate types. There is no invoice-on-account arrangement and no payment after the fact. If a doctor declines to issue a certificate, you are told the reason — so read what each type covers before you pay, and pick the one that matches what the recipient actually asked for.
Sometimes, but usually not well. A certificate is written for the question it was asked to answer, so a Sick Leave certificate rarely satisfies a club wanting a fitness declaration, and a General Fitness certificate does not evidence an absence. If you have two genuinely different needs, they are two assessments. If they are the same need for two recipients, one document is fine.
Your employer, always, by the method and within the deadline your contract specifies. Beyond that, which insurance or social-security body needs to hear from you depends on where you are insured and under what arrangement, and cross-border employment genuinely differs case by case. We cannot answer it on your behalf and will not pretend to — ask your employer's HR and your own insurer, and get it in writing.
Assess and document, only. This is not a treatment service: there is no prescription, no ongoing care and no follow-up management of your condition. If what you actually need is treatment, the right route is a GP or the Landesspital in Vaduz, and a doctor here will say so rather than issue a certificate and leave you unwell.
You can help an adult relative complete their submission, but the answers must be theirs and accurate, and the assessment is of them. Where someone cannot participate in the questions at all, remote assessment is not appropriate and in-person care is the right answer. Do not submit a case describing yourself and expect a certificate for somebody else.
No. We do not report requests or certificates to the government, to a Krankenkasse, to your employer or to any register. The document goes to you, and whether you pass it on is your decision. The flip side is that nothing is automatically on record anywhere, which is precisely why your own notification obligations still have to be met.
