A clinician will only issue a certificate after genuinely assessing your case, based on the health information you provide and, where needed, follow-up questions. If a certificate is not clinically appropriate, for example if your case needs an in-person examination or further investigation, the doctor will decline to issue one and you receive a full, automatic refund. We do not operate on a pay-first, questions-later basis: no certificate is guaranteed simply because a request was submitted.

No. The currency a payment is taken in is a commercial decision and has nothing to do with whether a doctor's assessment stands up, and Wales applies the same UK-wide sick pay and fit note framework as the rest of the country. What actually determines whether your employer is satisfied is their own sickness policy: where it names the statutory MED3, our certificate is supporting documentation alongside it. Where it asks for medical evidence more generally, the format of the payment is irrelevant.
Tell them it has been submitted and is under review, then follow the two separate obligations in the policy. Almost every sickness policy asks you to report the absence by a set time, and to provide evidence as soon as reasonably practicable — those are different deadlines, and evidence arriving after the report is normal rather than a breach. What causes problems is silence: a rota-based employer needs to know now that you are not coming in, regardless of when the paperwork lands.
